At the Working Women Community Centre (WWCC) in Toronto, our settlement services are designed to support newcomers, immigrants, and refugees, with a focus on helping women and their families adapt to life in Canada. Our goal is to ease this transition by offering culturally sensitive services that empower clients to become confident, self-sufficient members of their new communities.

Information and Orientation

We provide orientation and information sessions tailored to the needs of our diverse community, covering essential topics like healthcare, housing, education, employment, and other services.


Our team offers one-on-one consultations, group workshops, and relevant resources in multiple languages, including Portuguese, Farsi, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Dari, Punjabi, Tigrinya, Amharic, Italian, Twi, Ga, and Ewe, to ensure accessibility and understanding

Documentation and Application Assistance

WWCC assists clients with navigating and applying for essential documentation and benefits, including:

  • Canadian Birth Certificates
  • Canadian Citizenship Applications
  • Child Tax Benefits
  • Document Replacement (IRCC – PR cards, Work Permits)
  • Employment Insurance (EI) Applications
  • PR Applications and PR Renewals
  • Travel Documents for Protected Persons
  • Immigration Inquiries

 

We offer guidance through the application processes, ensuring clients understand requirements and submit complete applications.

Sponsorship Information Sessions

For those interested in sponsoring family members, we provide information sessions and webinars on sponsorship requirements, application steps, and expected timelines. These sessions ensure clients have a clear understanding of the process and necessary documentation for family reunification.

Legal and Immigration Guidance

WWCC connects clients with legal and immigration resources to help them understand their rights and access services. Our knowledgeable staff provides information and referrals for issues related to immigration status, family reunification, and employment rights, helping clients navigate these complex processes.

Support for Women Facing Violence and Women’s Support Groups

WWCC offers essential support services for women who have experienced or are at risk of violence, providing them with resources, referrals, and safe spaces to share and heal. Our women’s support groups, available in various languages, create supportive environments where women can connect with others, share their experiences, and access resources to enhance their safety, well-being, and independence.

Personalized Case Management and Advocacy

Our settlement counsellor works closely with clients to offer ongoing case management and advocacy, addressing unique challenges and ensuring that every client receives the support they need. We help clients overcome barriers, advocate for their needs, and access specialized resources for housing, mental health, and legal aid.
