Learn about our English classes for newcomers, who can attend and what to expect.
LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers in Canada) is a free program funded by the Canadian government to help newcomers learn and improve their English. LINC courses at WWCC help newcomers get involved in the community, learn about Canada, and gain the knowledge they need to find employment and become Canadian citizens.
Our full-time program provides intensive support and resources for working women looking to enhance their skills and qualifications. Join us for a structured curriculum that covers a wide range of topics to help you excel in your career.
Take LINC classes to grow your knowledge of Canada and your English skill until you have finished CLB 4 in Listening and Speaking.
Register for our Citizenship Driven Course designed to help prepare you for the citizenship test.
We also offer informal chat groups where you can discuss the citizenship test and prepare with others.
Bring your YMCA documents to us at 5 Fairview Mall Drive. We are on the 4th floor of the medical building north of Fairview Mall.
If there is space in the course you want, we will register you. If the class is full, we will put you on a waiting list and will call you when a space opens up.
In addition to LINC Classes, our students can participate in a range of activities that help people meet new people, make friends, connect with other people from their home country and learn about the local community and Canadian culture.
Our LINC is about more than English. We run multiple events and workshops that introduce newcomers to Canadian culture including holidays, trips to local attractions like the Royal Ontario Museum and Indigenous culture.
Our social activities help LINC students meet other people and start new friendships outside of LINC classes.
We also coordinate activities for specific language groups to help people connect with others in their native language.
For LINC Families
We offer limited spaces in our childminding program so that parents are able to focus on their lessons while their children participate in programs in a safe environment.
